XenData Announces Tight Integration with MediaFlex from TMD to provide a Highly Secure Digital Asset Management and Video Archiving Solution

XenData, Cambridge, UK and  Walnut Creek, CA - April 20, 2006:    XenData today announces that its enterprise class Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) software has been tightly integrated with Mediaflex from TMD.

Mediaflex is a product suite for the global media and broadcast industries that combines asset management, workflow and resources management. XenData's HSM software provides highly scalable data archiving to RAID and data tape cartridges within a robotic library. This integration enhances the  already extensive functionality and capabilities of Mediaflex.

The combination of the two products uses both XenData's standard file system interface and an API that registers within the Mediaflex digital asset management system when video files have been securely archived to high stability data tapes. The solution provides high performance archiving and strong data protection:

  • supporting a wide range of data tape formats including LTO and SAIT with transfer rates up to 640 Mbits/second;

  • optimized for network transfers using FTP and the standard Windows network protocol;

  • automatically generating data tape cartridge replicas for secure retention offsite; and

  • archiving to tape cartridges with 30 years lifetimes for long-term storage.

Commenting, Tony Taylor, Chairman and CEO of TMD said:  "The integration with XenData gives further options for our customers. In particular, it provides a highly scalable and robust archive which will support up to many 100,000 hours of digital video."

The integrated solution is immediately available from TMD.
