Storage Visions 2011 Visionary Product Award
XenData's X1500 LTO-5 Digital Video Archive System was awarded the
Visionary Product of 2011 in the Media and Entertainment Storage category at
the Tenth Annual Storage Visions Conference held in Las Vegas (January 4-5,
2011).
An industry first, X1500 LTO-5 enables users to copy files to LTO tape with an intuitive process that is literally as simple as dragging and
dropping, or copying and pasting files, using Windows Explorer on a Windows 7 computer. Quickly and easily restoring files from LTO is just the reverse
process using drag and drop or copy and paste. Transfers to and from LTO, can be for individual files, selections of files or complete nested folder
structures. For example, a folder structure containing hundreds of project video can be archived to or restored from LTO more efficiently using the
X1500, resulting in significant time and cost savings.
The X1500 is also unique in its ability
to offer enhanced offline utility at a much lower price point than other
solutions. When an LTO tape is ejected from the tape drive, its file
contents are remembered by the system, even though the tape is now offline.
The user can display the file and folder structure for any offline tape. The
software allows searching of the offline archive and it identifies which
tape needs to be inserted back into the tape drive to restore that file.
