I have a Windows 'Out of disk space' message but I know that there is plenty of space on my disk cache. What does this mean?

This typically indicates that the system cannot write to tape. XenData Archive Series software prevents writing to disk when administrator defined policies require writing to tape immediately after writing to disk. Windows interprets this condition as 'out of disk space'.

Typical causes of the message are:

  • running out of blank tapes

  • forgetting to manually 'Add Volume'

  • a tape cartridge in an Error state resulting from a media error, a faulty drive or a faulty SCSI bus.

You should view the XenData event log within the Windows Event Viewer to determine the cause of the problem.
