In case of tape drives or library failure, XenData Archive Series software allows the system administrator to selectively disable tape hardware while the remainder of the system continues running. This is performed within the diagnostics section of the XenData Management Console.

In case of disk failure or failure of the server, the system provides a facility to automatically rebuild itself from tape. After rebuilding the hardware, the Import Folder Structure and Import Data functions available within the XenData Management Console will rebuild the file system metadata and online files on the XenData disk cache.

Fast rebuild of the file system metadata can be achieved with a new XenData metadata backup utility.
