There is an incompatibility between XenData Archive Series software and Storage Manager 2.0 for Server Appliances which is pre-installed on the HP DL380 when delivered as a NAS appliance running Storage Server 2003.

Storage Manager 2.0 for Server Appliances provides quota management and is not part of Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003. It is not pre-installed when HP ships the DL380 with the standard Server 2003 operating system.

Problem Resolution

Upgrade Storage Server 2003 to at least SP1 using the appropriate HP upgrade DVD. Then remove Storage Manager 2.0 for Server Appliances using 'Add or Remove Programs' within the Control Panel and reboot before installing XenData Archive Series software.
