HP LTO Ultrium FC and SCSI Drive-Specific Information

Supported Tape Formats

The following drive/media combinations are supported by XenData Archive Series software in HP Ultrium FC and SCSI drives:

Notes: (1) Supported HP LTO Ultrium-2 drives are known as Ultrium 420; supported HP LTO Ultrium-3 drives are known as Ultrium 920 and Ultrium 960; supported HP LTO Ultrium-4 drives are known as Ultrium 1840; and supported LTO-5 Ultrium drives are known as Ultrium 3000. (2) LTO Ultrium-5 drives are not available with a parallel SCSI interface.

Minimum Supported Firmware Level

The following firmware versions are approved for use with XenData Archive Series software. If you are using an earlier firmware version, please upgrade your drives before using XenData software.  All drives in a library must have the same firmware version.

Note that the relevant tape library manufacturer may require a higher level of firmware.

Device Driver Installation

The device driver for these drives is installed using the Windows Update service, as follows:

  1. Right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'

  2. Select Device Manager from the left pane and find the drive; it will be in either 'Tape drives' or 'Other devices' in the right pane.

  3. Double click on the device and select the 'Driver' tab.

  4. Click 'update driver' to launch the driver update wizard, allow the wizard to connect to the Internet and click 'Next'.  Select 'Install the software automatically' and again click 'Next'  When the wizard finished installing the device driver, click "Finish".

If the driver fails to install for some reason, you can download a suitable driver from the HP support site.  Follow the installation instructions on the HP site.
