Supported configurations and drives

The RLS-8500 tape library is supported with one mail slot (4 cartridge capacity) and up to 5 IBM LTO-5 tape drives. 

Supported by XenData Versions

The RLS-8500 is supported by the X64 Edition of Archive Series software from version 5.02.

For version 5.02, an RLS-8500 specific DLL must be added to the '<boot drive>\Program Files\XenData\Archive Series\'  folder and the XenData medium changer device driver (located in '<boot drive>\Program Files\XenData\Drivers\Win2003\') must be updated. The additional DLL and updated medium changer device driver files may be downloaded from here.

Supported Interface

The RLS-8500 is supported with FC or SAS interfaces only.

 Medium Changer Device Driver Installation

To install the XenData device driver

  1. Right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'

  2. Select Device Manager from the left pane and select 'Unknown Medium Changer' in 'Medium Changers' from the right pane.

  3. Right-click on the Device and select 'Update Driver.'   Click 'update driver' to launch the driver update wizard.

  4. When prompted 'Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for Software?', select 'No, not at this time' and then click 'Next.'

  5. When prompted 'What do you want the wizard to do? 'Select 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)'   and then click 'Next.'

  6. Choose the 'Don't search.  I will choose the driver to install' option and then click 'Next.'

  7. Click 'Have Disk' and Browse to or enter the path '<boot drive>\Program Files\XenData\Drivers\Win2003\' and then select 'XenMC.inf.'   Click 'Open,' 'OK.'

  8. When prompted to Select the device driver, Scroll to and select the Manufacturer and the appropriate model and then select 'Next.'

  9. When the warning 'The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing...' Click 'Continue Anyway.'   This completes the driver installation/update process.
