Qualstar RLS-4xxx, RLS-82xx and RLS-84xx Library Models

Supported Configurations and Tape Drive Types
The following models are supported:
RLS-4xxx models
(Sony AIT tape drives)
RLS-82xx and RLS-84xx
models (IBM LTO tape drives)
In April 2011, Qualstar started shipping a new configuration of
the RLS-84xx without a separate medium changer connection that uses
ADI to connect to the medium changer via one of the installed LTO
tape drives. Both non-ADI and ADI configurations are supported.
Note, there is a requirement to power-cycle the ADI tape
libraries after any operation that opens the main front door of the
unit. Consequently in normal operation, the VIOP must be configured
and used for tape cartridge import and export operations.
Minimum Supported Firmware Level
For non-ADI models with a separate medium changer connection, the minimum supported firmware level is 003E. If the firmware in your unit
is at a lower level that this, please contact your library support organization
for an upgrade.
For models without a separate medium changer connection, ADI is
used to connect to the medium changer via one of the tape drives. In
this case, the minimum supported firmware version is 00D5. If
the firmware in your unit is at a lower level that this, please
contact your library support organization for an upgrade.
Minimum Supported XenData Version
For models using ADI, the minimum version of XenData Archive Series software
is version 5.02. This must be patched with an updated device driver
available from XenData technical support.
