Supported Tape Formats

The following AIT drive/media combinations are supported by XenData Archive Series software:

Supported by XenData Versions

The above AIT tape drives are only supported by XenData Archive Series software versions up to 4.00P2, with the exception of the AIT-3 SDX-700V and AIT-5 SDX-1100 tape drives which are also supported by versions 5.0x of the X32 Edition of XenData Archive Series software.

Minimum Supported Firmware Level

The following firmware versions have been tested with XenData Archive Series software. If you are using an earlier firmware version, please upgrade your drives before using XenData software.  Note that all drives in a library must have the same firmware version.

Device Driver Installation

The device driver for these drives is installed using the Windows Update service, as follows:

  1. Right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Manage'

  2. Select Device Manager from the left pane and find the drive; it will be in either 'Tape drives' or 'Other devices' in the right pane.

  3. Double click on the device and select the 'Driver' tab.

  4. Click 'update driver' to launch the driver update wizard, allow the wizard to connect to the Internet and click 'Next'.  Select 'Install the software automatically' and again click 'Next'  When the wizard finished installing the device driver, click 'Finish'

If the driver fails to install for some reason, you can download a suitable driver from the Sony support site.  Follow the installation instructions on the site.
